People love the room note, and the price is a bargain. BCA can get a bit wet and goopy, but even then, the flavor doesn?t change dramatically and it still doesn?t nip. This replaced Captain Black in my rotation. I smoke Captain Black Royal and bought some bulk 1Q believing it to be the same. Trying to find that one. I like a mild tobacco with some flavor, maybe Virginia or burley processed as Black Cavendish, but no latakia or perique. Very mild and has a wonderful flavor and room note. It is the #! This was too sweet for me and had somewhat of a chemical taste to it. Lane buys all the leaf grown in the Green River Valley. This is an all black cavendish. Not too complex, but great for what it is. or so. The tobacco taste is light as it's sublimated by the toppings, but it does account for the toastiness and grass. Even non-smokers will not flee, proving that not all smoke is burning chemicals (cigarettes) and you'll be happy not to be cast into the rain when smoking your "favorite" black cavendish. Some commenters said that their batch was sticky, I did not find it sticky or wet at all. MUST HAVE I keep on hand. At Tinder Box for example, it is Wilshire, named after the Original store in Sana Monica, on Wilshire BLVD. It has the typical moist character of Green River black cavendish and from what I read it's supposed to be dark fired cured leaf. Just don't put this type of tobacco in an expensive pipe! It's smooth on the tongue and the Vanilla that Lane uses always has that nutmeg or cinnamon nuance to it that I appreciate. Besides the price, the best thing about BCA is that its relatively devoid of some of the strange off-flavors that I pick-up in a number of straight black Cavendish's. My wife smokes and enjoys both as well but gives a slight preference to BC-A. It is pretty far in the background. Like its brethern, this Black Cavendish is a good example of something that provides others with a great smelling treat, but leaves the smoker underwhelmed.
