The headphone that the elites love to hate isn't that bad. Probably the worst e-stat I've heard. When I first got to hear the Meze Elite I knew it was going to be special. Nice. :shrug. Very nice. I hated, I mean HATED to spend $3000 on some silly headphones, but that's exactly what the Stellia did for me. Good bass except the lowest notes, sharp finger snaps. The cups themselves are huge, making use of the egg-shaped design that higher end HiFiMAN headphones are known for, and this also means that theres lots of space inside the pads for your ears. But with that said, the Aryas layering, depth, and image separation capabilities make it stand out a bit in this regard, along with a tonality thats more optimal for image clarity and detail presentation. As an upgrade from the original Clear, the MG provides great depth and transparency that only Focal can deliver. Somewhat thin-sound and shouty but overall a very well-tuned set, if extremely blunted and narrow in imaging. Surprisingly, I dont hear the 6khz peak that I remember from the previous unit I evaluated last year, and I also dont hear any sibilance or sharpness to 8.5khz on this unit like I heard on the last one either.
